How Much Does Your Life Weigh?

What is life weight?  Life weight is what you carry around with you on a day-to-day basis that you do not need.  Two of the heaviest pieces of weight we carry with us is past and future weight. We clog ourselves up with negative events from the past and worries about the future not realizing how much damage it is doing to our bodies and minds. This type of life weight will cause you to be out of tune with your Inner Life creating stress, anxiety, depression, weight problems, addictions, frustration, anger, fear and/or disease.

The only weight you should be concerned about at any given moment in time is the weight you need right NOW. Surprisingly enough the weight you need right now does not exist. There is no life weight when you live in the here and now because there is nothing in the present moment to weigh you down.  Why is this?  Because nothing from the past or future ever exists when you are focused and living in the present moment!  

Let’s say for example that someone hurt you many years ago and yet you still hold onto the pain.  You avoid getting close to anyone in fear of being hurt again.  You have lost your confidence and you have no trust when it comes to relationships.  Do you need this memory and the pain in order to live?  No, of course not.  So why do you allow it to weigh you down?  Why do you allow it to control you?  If you were to lose the weight of this past event, how do you think you would feel?  Yes, you would feel relief and you would feel good again not only about yourself but about the possibility of future relationships.

If you would like to figure out how much your life weighs take out several pieces of paper and write down all the negative past events that you think about on a regular basis.  Write down every future worry you have.  Now take some time to read and re-read your lists and then ask yourself, being totally honest, how much of this stuff do I need RIGHT NOW?  I can guarantee you won’t need any of it and you won’t stop breathing from the lack of it.  In fact, you will probably begin to breathe easier, feeling lighter and lighter as you get rid of each and every piece of weight.

Each day when you wake up, take a few minutes before getting out of bed to remind yourself that you do not need all of your life’s weight in order to survive.  So before your feet hit the floor, leave them all behind and start your day off with a very deep breath of relief knowing there will be nothing weighing you down today! All you need is you in the present moment so don’t waste another minute of your life!

Put It In the Jar

59About 4 years ago I was helping a 5-year-old boy who was living a difficult life.  Not only was he was learning the negative beliefs and behaviors of his parents who were both addicts and verbally abusive, but he was living with a lot of anger.

During a short period of time I became his friend, confidant, parent, punching bag, companion and teacher.  We went through many painful times together but we also had some very joyful times.

I remembered something he and I did that helped to relieve his anger and the things that bothered him.  It started with an art class.  He and I would do one form of art on a weekly basis.  On this particular day he came over so we could decorate some jars together which we did.  After we were done we sat back and admired our work.  He then turned to me and asked what we were going to put in them.  Honestly, I had no clue.  So I asked him what he would like to put in them and after a few minutes he turned to me with a saddened face and said “bad stuff, I want to put bad stuff in them”.  I knew in my heart what he was talking about but I still asked a few questions. 

After some time we came up with the idea to write down on a piece of paper what was bothering us, so we did.  I of course had to help him with his but it still had the same effect.  When we were done, we folded it up and put it in our jar.  I told him that once it goes in the jar it can no longer hurt, anger or upset us.  He eagerly agreed. 

57I had no clue how any of this would turn out, but in the end the jar made a world of difference.  As much as it pained my heart to hear the “bad stuff” I knew it was helping.  He would come over distraught, emotional and crying, but after we wrote the bad stuff down and put it in the jar, he was relieved ~ just like that.  Not only could I see it in his face and body but I could also feel it in his energy.  His belief in the jar was one to be admired.  I soon began filling my jar and lo n’ behold it really did work!  Whatever I put in the jar, stayed in the jar.

All you have to do is grab a jar, bottle or box, keep a small note pad and pen beside it and whenever you find yourself stressed, worried or angry about something or at someone, jot it down and put it in the jar with the KNOWING that once it is in the jar it can no longer have an effect on you.  It is there if you want it, but for the time being just put it in the jar and forget about it.

Life Is the Way You Make It

43One of the biggest set backs you can give yourself is allowing your “outer life” control your “inner life”.  Your inner LIFE is who you really are.  It is where nothing can break you and all that matters can be found.  It is where you are protected, safe, loved and one with Source.

When we are faced with a broken relationship, financial or business challenges, the death of a loved one, disease, etc. we have a tendency to fall into its evil trap of worry, stress, anxiety, pain and depression.  We allow ourselves to be consumed and sucked up in what is happening to us instead of continuing to be consumed with our natural state of being which is peace, well-being and happiness. 

How does this happen?  It happens because we step OUT of our inner life and INTO our outer life.  Something unexpected spins you like a Tasmanian devil and before you know it you are in a downward spiral toward the depths of your own inner hell.  A place where there is no hope.  A place where you literally have to crash and burn before you can even begin to think about pulling yourself up and out.  BUT, it does not have to be this way.  No matter what is happening in your outer life, if you can just remember to remain in the peace of the moment, to remain in your inner life, LIFE itself will carry you through.

52Life is in fact the way we make it because we always have a choice.  Nothing can take you away from who you really are; from your inner life unless YOU allow it to.  If the choices you are making seem to create a more stressful and difficult life experience, take a step back and ask yourself where you are.  Are you in your outer life or are you in your inner life.  If you constantly find yourself in your outer life, do, think and feel the things that will take you back to your inner life.  Do what brings a smile to your face, warms your heart, and creates joy and happiness. 

Trust me, I know how difficult life can get but I also know how easy life can be when we just allow the natural flow of life’s goodness carry us away!  The Universe is on your side and ready to give you everything you want so the choice is yours.  How would you like to make your life today?  Would you like to make it happy or would you like to make it difficult?  Would you rather live within the bounties of peace, well-being and love or the confines of stress, anxiety, worry, pain and depression?  Choose to be and live from your inner life and see how quickly your outer life changes for the better!
