How Much Does Your Life Weigh?

What is life weight?  Life weight is what you carry around with you on a day-to-day basis that you do not need.  Two of the heaviest pieces of weight we carry with us is past and future weight. We clog ourselves up with negative events from the past and worries about the future not realizing how much damage it is doing to our bodies and minds. This type of life weight will cause you to be out of tune with your Inner Life creating stress, anxiety, depression, weight problems, addictions, frustration, anger, fear and/or disease.

The only weight you should be concerned about at any given moment in time is the weight you need right NOW. Surprisingly enough the weight you need right now does not exist. There is no life weight when you live in the here and now because there is nothing in the present moment to weigh you down.  Why is this?  Because nothing from the past or future ever exists when you are focused and living in the present moment!  

Let’s say for example that someone hurt you many years ago and yet you still hold onto the pain.  You avoid getting close to anyone in fear of being hurt again.  You have lost your confidence and you have no trust when it comes to relationships.  Do you need this memory and the pain in order to live?  No, of course not.  So why do you allow it to weigh you down?  Why do you allow it to control you?  If you were to lose the weight of this past event, how do you think you would feel?  Yes, you would feel relief and you would feel good again not only about yourself but about the possibility of future relationships.

If you would like to figure out how much your life weighs take out several pieces of paper and write down all the negative past events that you think about on a regular basis.  Write down every future worry you have.  Now take some time to read and re-read your lists and then ask yourself, being totally honest, how much of this stuff do I need RIGHT NOW?  I can guarantee you won’t need any of it and you won’t stop breathing from the lack of it.  In fact, you will probably begin to breathe easier, feeling lighter and lighter as you get rid of each and every piece of weight.

Each day when you wake up, take a few minutes before getting out of bed to remind yourself that you do not need all of your life’s weight in order to survive.  So before your feet hit the floor, leave them all behind and start your day off with a very deep breath of relief knowing there will be nothing weighing you down today! All you need is you in the present moment so don’t waste another minute of your life!

Decide What You Want

When we are faced with making a decision regarding any matter in our lives, it is up to us to DECIDE which would serve us better and/or enhance our life.  This could be anything from your career, relationships, personal well-being, health or where you live.

When we are unable to decide it creates an imbalance within us, which in turn causes us stress and anxiety.  It could also cause temporary feelings of unhappiness.  It is inevitable that we are going to have ups and downs from time to time, however it is important to decide on what will make you happy, even if in the long run, so you can continue living a less distracted life.  When you decide which way to go, the imbalance subsides and life automatically smooths itself out, leaving you with a more calm, settled, peaceful, and happy feeling.

Some decisions are going to be more difficult than others, but don’t use their difficulty as an excuse to put it off.  The most assured way to decide on what would be more fulfilling, is to think about each possibility and then see how it makes you feel, weighing both pros and cons.  One or the other is going to make you feel better than the other.  If not, than look a little deeper until there is some remnant of a spark within one or the other.

There may also be times when what you need to decide on is not something you want no matter how you look at it.  In this case, find as many positive aspects of it and remember you are the creator of your reality so this too can change.  Nothing has to remain the same unless you choose for it to.

83Decide what you are going to do and DO IT!  Don’t talk about doing it, just do it.  Not only will you be emptying your “to do” list, but you will also be fine tuning your connection to your Inner Life because you will be letting go of the stress and anxiety associated with living in indecision.

If you want to lose weight, decide to do so and do it.  If you want a career change, decide what you want to do, and do it.  If your relationships are unhealthy, decide to end them, and then do it.  If you want to totally change your life, decide to do it and do it. And most important, if you are not being you, DECIDE to be yourself and leave the rest behind!
