Gratitude Is More Than Saying Thank You

158Gratitude is more than just saying thank you.  It is truly being and feeling grateful for all that you are, all that you are becoming, and all that you have. We tend to take things and people for granted when at anytime we could lose them.

When you practice gratitude on a daily basis it not only keeps you in tune with your Inner Life, but it takes the focus off of the negative aspects of your life.  Feeling gratitude creates positive energy that flows out into the Universe bringing you more things to be grateful for. Feeling and being grateful for even the smallest of things will yield great benefits. The more gratitude you feel the more resistance you will dissolve within yourself. You will no longer be going against the natural flow of life but floating happily along with it.

135If you find yourself unhappy and surrounded by things you don’t want, find at least one thing to be grateful for and feel it ~ really feel the gratitude for it. It doesn’t matter what it is, just feel grateful in the having of it.  Within a matter of minutes, if not seconds, you will feel a shift in your energy and your mind will automatically start focusing on other things to be grateful for.

If feeling gratitude seems more like work or does not come easy to you, start a gratitude journal. Every night before bed take a few minutes and write down 3 things you were grateful for during that particular day. It does not matter what it is as long as you can feel the gratitude toward it. When you get up the next morning, start your day off by re-reading those things. This will instill the positive feelings you had about them and start your day off on a grateful foot!

The Habit of Complaining

690Most people don’t recognize complaining as a habit or even a behavior because for most it comes so naturally. A habit is something you do consciously or unconsciously on a regular basis.  Any habit, including complaining, can be changed if you truly have the desire to do so. Why would you want to change a habit such as complaining?  Because it produces negative energy, experiences, outcomes and/or manifestations. That which you put out, you get back. Not only that, but it also puts you out of tune with your Inner Life because you are creating negativity in your life.

If you are unsure whether or not you are an habitual complainer, pick any day of the week and consciously be aware of your words and thoughts. Keep a tally of how many times you voice or think a complaint.  If you complain one or more times a day, it is too much. It will keep the negative energy flowing into your life experience and that is not something you want.

361The tool I used in changing my habit of complaining was to replace every complaint with a compliment.  The compliment does not have to be related to what the complaint is about, just get in a new habit of voicing or thinking compliments. For instance, let’s say someone gets on your nerves. Instead of complaining about them, offer them a compliment. Compliment their clothes, hair, nails, skills, abilities, knowledge, etc. You would be surprised at how quickly the feelings of them getting on your nerves dissipates.

In a very short amount of time you will take notice of how much better you feel and how much better life feels to you just because of this one change.  If you find yourself complaining from time to time, don’t beat yourself up over it – it is a natural human reaction. Just don’t let it become a negative habit.

If true and lasting happiness is what you seek, seek first from within. Live, breathe and be your Inner Life. Quiet your mind, focus solely on the present moment, and allow the power of your Inner Life guide you to where you want to be……

Turning Bumps Into Stepping Stones

64“I’ve failed, but I’m strong enough to have been able to turn this experience around.  I’ve stumbled and faltered, but I’ve turned the bumps in my road into stepping-stones.” – Anonymous

Failure is only failure if you perceive it to be.  There is no failure when you turn the bumps in your road into stepping-stones.  A stepping stone is symbolic of a positive movement forward; a step in the right direction.  When you are able to embrace negative life experiences so much so that you see value in them; they lose power over you because the unwanted is now wanted. Without the unwanted your true desires would never be born.  You would never know where you want to go because you would still be where you are, swimming in a pool of negativity.

65The power of the stepping-stone opens up the moment we choose to use our negative life experiences as stepping-stones, for it awakens one of the deepest parts of our Inner Life, who we really are.  It creates excitement, eagerness, anticipation and positive energy.  If you sit with it for just a spell, savoring the experience in the here and now, you will begin to feel the natural flow of positive energy move through your body.  You will begin to feel the essence of where you want to be.  What you do not want will slowly fade away because you will no longer be connected through your outer life, but through your Inner Life.

75If there are things going on in your life causing you fear, worry, pain or unhappiness, use the stepping-stone as your tool to pull yourself out of what you do not want and into what you do want.

Visualize yourself moving forward toward all your dreams and desires.  Fear not of the next “stone” (step), but instead find the strength, wisdom, courage, faith and trust that lives inside you. You know it’s there.  We all know it’s there, we just don’t use it. You deserve to be happy no matter where you have been, what you have done, or who you once were.

Take the next step ~ find the power that lies within the stepping-stone.  Do what you need to do, be who you want to be ~ live, love and laugh….one stepping-stone at a time!
