    Free Yourself From Regret

Throughout our lives we will say and do things which will cause regret. These things may be said or done in the “heat of the moment” or while “temporarily suspended” from our Inner Life, who we really are.  The regret we feel may come instantly or it may come later after the realization of what we did hits us.  What makes it worse is when we not only hurt ourselves but when we hurt those we love. Regret is a negative emotion that if held onto can cause even more pain and suffering then what you may already be experiencing.  It is also an emotion that could very easily control…

    What Is Your Happiness

Like you, I search the internet for useful information.  One thing I have taken notice to is how many “steps” there are to achieving happiness or anything else for that matter. I don’t know about you, but if I were to try to follow 10 – 30 steps of anything I’d be exhausted before I even got started!  Now don’t get me wrong, the information may be useful but it is all too overwhelming especially for someone who is trying to overcome a struggle or achieve a specific goal. I do understand wanting to share what “works” especially when the advice comes from personal experience, but what about making it simple.…

You Define You, Not the Past

Some say the negative experiences of our past define who we are, but I am not sure if I believe this.  I am who I am because I choose to be.  Giving your past all the credit gives it power.  It holds you in a place that doesn’t always allow you to move forward.  It keeps you living in fear because you don’t ever want to go back to “those days” so you live in the confines of what you think will keep you safe from the past.  While at the same time you are also keeping yourself away from what life truly has to offer you. Yes, there are…

Don’t Let Excuses Control Your Life

How often do you use your past as an excuse to justify your present life situation or your behavior? Do you use your past as an excuse to indulge in negative habits?  Do you use a failed relationship as an excuse not to trust anyone? If you are fully aware of where your excuses are coming from, you no longer have an excuse for making excuses!  It is time to take personal responsibility for your life. The only person making you and your life the way it is, is you.  Yes, you heard me correctly!  It’s all YOU!  You are the one who has the control in your life; not the past, not…

    Cutting Ties to Your Expectations

Have you ever asked yourself why you expect so much from others? Far too many people expect others to be, act or behave as they would but why. Does it make you feel better in the knowing that others are just like you? Does it make you feel like you are in control? Or does it come from how others in your life hold expectations of you? More than likely it comes from believing that your way is the right way or the only way, but we know that’s not true. NOW is the time to cut ties to your expectations, to stop worrying about everyone else, and start worrying…

    Temporary Bouts of Unhappiness

There will be times in your life when you experience bouts of unhappiness. These bouts are only temporary if you want them to be. They come from being out of tune with your Inner Life, with who you really are. Once you get back in tune your life will get back to where you want it to be, guaranteed. There are, and will always be, certain life situations which will cause you to become out of tune with your Inner Life. They could range in intensity from something very mild to something as gut wrenching as the loss of a loved one. Regardless the intensity, when you remain within yourself…

    Inner Life Breathing

Inner Life Breathing is a valuable practice. Not only does it instantly move you into the present moment, putting you back in tune with your Inner Life, but it also promotes over-all feelings of well-being, relaxation, relieves tension, stress, anxiety and helps with insomnia. Inner Life breathing will also increase the oxygen in your bloodstream which will help lower blood pressure and heart rate. Once it becomes a part of your daily routine, it can be done anywhere at any time. To start, you may find it helpful to begin your practice at bedtime and upon waking when you can close your eyes and leave all distractions behind. In time,…
