Appreciating Yourself, Completely

351When you become consumed with negative feelings about yourself, it is nearly impossible to see anything, let alone yourself, in a positive light.  You are absent of worthiness and full of self-doubt.  You get caught in a never-ending cycle of self-defeating behaviors and before you know it, you cannot find meaning or purpose in your life.  This state of mind will eventually affect your overall well-being, not to speak of causing you to become out of tune with your Inner Life.

I know how difficult it can be to feel good about yourself when you are completely down.  Sometimes, in order to find and feel appreciation for who we are, regardless of how we got to where we are or what we did, it may serve us well to look outside ourselves first.  Select something outside yourself that makes you feel good and then feel appreciation for it until you feel a shift in your energy…..and you will. Whatever you do, stay focused on whatever it may be that makes you feel better until it begins to take form within you. Once you start to feel the appreciation within you, it’s time to turn inward and allow your Inner Life guide you to where you want to be.

355From this point forward, fill yourself up with the people, places, things, thoughts and feelings that bring you the most joy and happiness. Find appreciation for all of God’s perfect creations.  Once your positive momentum gets moving, allow yourself the joy in appreciating yourself, completely.  Appreciate everything there is to appreciate – get up close and personal with YOU. Before you know it, the all-knowing, pure positive energy will start pouring out of you, and then there will be unconditional self-love. It is then that the darkness fades away and the light shines through!!!!

Letters of Love – Take the Time

17When was the last time you hand wrote a love letter to someone? I am not talking about an email, text message, or an array of Emoji’s. Don’t just say “I love you”, but write it ~ write letters of love to those you love and appreciate. Think of all the reasons why you love someone and tell them.  Write it from your heart, from where the love began and continues to grow. 

It’s only natural to become irritated or frustrated with those we spend a lot of time with.  It’s only natural to not always feel the love you once felt.  As time goes on there is a tendency to allow the negative to overpower the positive, to the point of forgetting what is really important and that is LOVE – pure positive unconditional love.

If you were to sit in the pureness of your heart and focus solely on the love within you and around you, you would be amazed at the difference not only in how you feel, but also in how you feel toward others – all others.  Love is the most powerful and greatest emotion we have and yet we let it slip through our lives time and time again.  Isn’t it time to live through your heart – through love?  Take the time to write a letter of love …..it will do you and someone else good!

Are Your Thoughts Stealing Your Happiness?

“You’d  never invite a thief into your house, so why would you allow thoughts, that steal your joy, to make themselves at home in your mind?” – Unknown 

When I read this quote I had one of those moments when the light turned on and I could see more clearly ….. it really makes you think.  Why do we allow thoughts that steal our joy, happiness and well-being?  If you were told by a doctor that negative thinking is a life threatening disease, would you keep thinking negative thoughts?  No, of course you wouldn’t, but we do.  And what if you were told the cure for this life threatening disease was positive thinking, would you take your dosage as prescribed?  Of course you would, we all would.  So WHY do we insist on robbing ourselves of who we really are and of our own precious life by focusing on the negative?  Life is supposed to be joyful, happy and abundant!

Honestly speaking, I do believe negative thinking is a life threatening disease.  It is a disease that slowly and painfully drains the life right out of you.  It takes you to dark places, creates depression, dis-ease and pain, and can very easily turn into destructive behavior patterns.  Once the negativity takes control, we lose control.  Often times we reach for a quick fix to make us feel better, but unfortunately those things are typically pills, street drugs, alcohol or junk food.  We try to rid ourselves of the emotional pain we are experiencing not realizing at the time these solutions are only temporary and will only lead to more problems, pain and negativity.

Why not reach for something natural ~ why not reach for a positive thought, a positive feeling, a good memory, a walk in the park, sitting in the sun, playing in the sand, spending time with loved ones, playing with your pet, watching a funny movie, listening to the kind of music that makes you want to dance, having a picnic, sharing a laugh with a friend ~ There are hundreds of positive things to reach for!  Instead of allowing your thoughts to steal your happiness, choose to replace them with the good in you and around you.  Choose to get back in tune with your Inner Life, where there is no negativity.  Choose to be happy not just because you know you should, but because you know you deserve it!
