It’s Good To Be Back

Last year was by far the worst year of my life!  I was in a total fog, not able to get in touch with myself.  I knew I was here and yet I was gone.  I couldn’t get a grasp of what was going on in and around me.  I was in a downward tailspin desperately trying to hold on.  I just kept sinking.  I knew which way was up but I was afraid.  I was afraid of expressing my grief and heartache because I didn’t want to feel it anymore than what I already was.  I was afraid to express my unhappiness and disillusions.  I was even afraid to reach out for help, support and guidance.  I felt so alone.  I even lost touch with my Inner Life and I lost my faith.  I was no longer taking a fearless leap of faith toward true happiness but instead I was falling with fear, sadness, and anger.  I was so angry at myself for allowing my feelings and emotions to get as far as they did.

When it got to the point where I had enough of feeling this way, a miracle occurred.  I opened my eyes and allowed the truth.  I was able to see everything so clearly that it actually made me physically sick and yet at the same time I was filled with an overwhelming amount of relief and sense of peace.  I could actually breathe again. I took the next three months in stride, putting myself and my life back together, still swaying from time to time, but holding strong.  I took back control and did what I had to do in order to live the life I want and feel the way I should feel.  It didn’t have to be this way though.  Not because I knew better, but because I am in control of how I feel no matter what the circumstances.  I allowed too many things consume me and nearly eat me alive.  Instead of expressing, I crumbled.

I can honestly say, it will never happen again.  My happiness, my state of mind, and my well-being are the most important things to me, as it should be.  If I am not good for myself, how am I supposed to be any good for anyone else.  As much as I suffered through the year, I now embrace it with great love and understanding.  It didn’t define me, but it did allow me to grow and to learn more about myself and others, some good, some not so good.  I am finally back to feeling like Cindy again and oh what a joyful feeling that is!  I sure did miss me!

Are Your Thoughts Stealing Your Happiness?

“You’d  never invite a thief into your house, so why would you allow thoughts, that steal your joy, to make themselves at home in your mind?” – Unknown

When I read this quote I had one of those moments when the light turned on and I could see more clearly ….. it really makes you think.  Why do we allow thoughts that steal our joy, happiness and well-being?  If you were told by a doctor that negative thinking is a life threatening disease, would you keep thinking negative thoughts?  No, of course you wouldn’t, but we do.  And what if you were told the cure for this life threatening disease was positive thinking, would you take your dosage as prescribed?  Of course you would, we all would.  So WHY do we insist on robbing ourselves of who we really are and of our own precious life by focusing on the negative?  Life is supposed to be joyful, happy and abundant!

Honestly speaking, I do believe negative thinking is a life threatening disease.  It is a disease that slowly and painfully drains the life right out of you.  It takes you to dark places, creates depression, dis-ease and pain, and can very easily turn into destructive behavior patterns.  Once the negativity takes control, we lose control.  Often times we reach for a quick fix to make us feel better, but unfortunately those things are typically pills, street drugs, alcohol or junk food.  We try to rid ourselves of the emotional pain we are experiencing not realizing at the time these solutions are only temporary and will only lead to more problems, pain and negativity.

37

Why not reach for something natural ~ why not reach for a positive thought, a positive feeling, a good memory, a walk in the park, sitting in the sun, playing in the sand, spending time with loved ones, playing with your pet, watching a funny movie, listening to the kind of music that makes you want to dance, having a picnic, sharing a laugh with a friend ~ There are hundreds of positive things to reach for!  Instead of allowing your thoughts to steal your happiness, choose to replace them with the good in you and around you.  Choose to get back in tune with your Inner Life, where there is no negativity.  Choose to be happy not just because you know you should, but because you know you deserve it!

Be, Have, and Live In Happiness

55There will always be times throughout our lives when we experience periods of unhappiness, of feeling down in the dumps.  But regardless of how we are feeling, it is our choice as to whether or not we want to stay there or move ourselves back to a better feeling place.

There is nothing or no one who can make you feel anything ~ you are the only one who is in control of how you feel.  Yes, I know, we like to blame others for how we feel and we like to blame the world for how our life is playing out, but in reality and in truth, your life and your feelings are your choice.

59When feeling unhappy we have a tendency to focus on how we are currently feeling which in turn creates more feelings of unhappiness.  And before you know it, you are suffering from sadness and depression. So why not turn yourself toward the people, places and things that bring you happiness.  Turn yourself toward the present moment, leaving all past and future thoughts behind.  Being in the present moment is full of positive energy, abundance, well-being, unconditional love, peace, joy and true happiness.  It is a natural part of who you really are and you are never without it.

57Trust me, I know all too well how hard it can be to get up, get out, and get motivated when you feel like a slug.  But once you do, your entire body of energy will change and you will be back in tune with your Inner Life before you know it.  Your Inner Life does not know unhappiness.  It does not know the past, future, stress, worry, anxiety, depression, dis-ease or lack.  It is when we live outside ourselves, in our outer lives, that we suffer and live unhappy lives.  The more consistently you live within your Inner Life, the greater and more powerful part of who you are, the more in tune you will be and the more your life will be filled with joy and happiness!

56So, instead of giving into the negativity of unhappiness, why not give into the positivity of joy and happiness!?!  No matter what is going on you can still be, have and live in happiness !!!
